We are excited to share with you the results of our most recent State Report Card. This report provides important insights into our performance across various academic and operational areas, including student achievement, graduation rates, attendance, and overall growth.
Sylacauga City Schools received a grade of 86 B. This grade reflects the hard work and dedication of our students, staff, and the entire school community. We are proud of the progress we have made. We thank you for your ongoing support and collaboration. Together, we will continue to strive for excellence and ensure that our students are equipped for success both in and out of the classroom

Nichols-Lawson Middle School was recognized by the US News as one of the top 40% of middle schools in the state, making it a U.S. News Best Middle School. NLMS ranked #108 out of 921 middle schools, placing it in the top 12% in the state!

Congratulations to Jase Hattaway and Max Childress for winning 1st place in the Alabama Student Angler Bass Fishing Association tournament in Eufala. They are part of the Sylacauga Junior Division.

Classy Aggie Tip-Off Day for Girls Basketball and 8th Grade Boys Basketball
This week FOCUS and Peer Helpers joined forces for our Substance Awareness and Prevention Campaign that encouraged students to reach their American Dream!
7th grade FOCUS members created meaningful posters to welcome everyone on Monday morning and 8th grade FOCUS members shared information they received from the FOCUS rally to all 7th and 8th grade classes this Friday.
Peer Helpers started each day with a drug awareness message over the morning announcements, provided each homeroom with campaign wristbands, and the opportunity to sign a drug-free promise that was posted outside of each homeroom door.
On Thursday, the Under Age, Under Arrest Program presented to the entire student body with information and encouragement to make wise choices at every opportunity. We can not thank the ABC Board, Police Force, and Mothers Against Drunk Driving enough for taking the time to speak to our students.
We are so proud of our students!
Veterans Day Lunch at NLMS
NLMS students that earned a Success Card for the first nine weeks were rewarded with a popcorn party this afternoon!
Students receive these positive behavior cards throughout the year when they are seen going above and beyond expectations.

Red Ribbon Week is October 28th - November 1st
8th grade FOCUS members participated in the FOCUS Rally this past Wednesday.
We left the rally extremely motivated by Lauren Sisler’s message of embracing our story and purpose!
We can’t wait to share valuable information about making positive choices to our student body during Red Ribbon Week at the end of October.
A special thank you to Sylacauga City Schools, Dr. Eller, and Carol Sprayberry for providing a way for our 8th grade FOCUS members to attend at no cost. Your generosity will impact many lives!
Due to an unforeseen maintenance issue, NLMS will have an e-learning day tomorrow, October 18th. No one will report to campus tomorrow. Teachers will be available via email and SchoolStatus.
