🚀 Launching Learning to New Heights!
Our science students have been hard at work applying what they’ve learned about Newton’s Laws, the metric system, mass, pressure, engineering and design, and aerodynamics—all while following the scientific method and practicing safety first.
Their challenge? Design and build a 2-liter bottle rocket. Students researched the best water-to-air ratio and optimal pressure to see whose rocket could stay airborne the longest.
This hands-on project combined critical thinking, problem-solving, and creativity, giving students the opportunity to experience real-world applications of science.

Mrs. King's 8th grade Spanish class participated in a "Greetings Vocabulary Skit" where they got to practice their Spanish vocabulary with one another.
Mr. Browning's 7th grade science class demonstrated a cell membrane/phospholipid bilayer using a butter sandwich lab activity.
Students in Mrs. Robinson's 8th grade science class designed and build the tallest tower possible using only 15 sheets of paper. Great work guys!

A 7th grade team of students competed today in the Perennial Math Team National Championship. We are so proud of all of their hard work! These students placed 7th in the NATION!!! Please help us congratulate Drew Lacey, Ellie McGilberry, Charleigh Terrell, Burke Coleman, and Jon Davis Bailey.
Day 5 of Teacher Appreciation Week was AMAZING! 🌟
We wrapped up this wonderful week of gratitude with delicious BBQ, made by our very own Coach Cantey, to celebrate our incredible teachers! The food was great, but the real highlight was showing our appreciation for the hard work, dedication, and passion that our teachers bring every day.
A big thank you to everyone who helped make this week special. Here's to the amazing educators who inspire, nurture, and shape the future!
Nichols-Lawson students and staff welcomed upcoming 6th graders this week by taking a tour of the middle school and meeting their future teachers! We look forward to having this great group of students in August!
Thursday, for Teacher Appreciation, teachers and staff were treated to a coffee bar from Cuppa Grace. Lunch was provided by Dana Morris. She made our favorite, Dana's salad bar. This is truly the best week of the school year!
Day 3 of Teacher Appreciation was just as delicious as days 1 and 2. We were treated to breakfast casserole, grits, giant biscuits, cinnamon rolls, and fruit from the Brown Butter Bakery and Cafe. Than you to our PTO and to Brown Butter Bakery and Cafe!
Happy National Nurses Day to Mrs. Gordon. She takes wonderful care of our students and all of us here at Nichols-Lawson. We love and appreciate you Mrs. Gordon!
Day 2 of Teacher Appreciation was just as delicious as day 1! We were treated with lunch from Giovanni's Italian Restaurant., cupcakes, and cookies. Thank you to our amazing PTO and Giovanni's.
Teacher Appreciation Week is our favorite week! On Monday, PTO fed us a breakfast of bagels, muffins, and other pastries. The Sylacauga Chamber gave us milk and cookies. We are thankful for our wonderful PTO led by Dana Morris. They go above and beyond for NLMS. We are also thankful for our Chamber of Commerce for being a great partner to all our schools.

Our NLMS Lunch Heroes made a special meal with a choice of dessert today! Mac & Cheese with Sausage is a student favorite! The desserts were deliciously topped with whipped topping. They had the choice of strawberry jello, strawberry cake or vanilla pudding!
Thank you to our amazing Lunchroom Heroes! All our ladies are FABULOUS, and we love and appreciate them all! Hospitality treated them to donuts this morning.
