Today our nation faces challenges in education which we have not seen in the past 100 years, and I am proud to say that we remain well-positioned to lead our children along their chosen pathways to success. Sylacauga City Schools continues to prepare graduates ready for the challenges which lie ahead to compete on the global stage. Strong academic results, winning co-curricular teams, and well-supported activities for every student at every level are the standards we live by in our district.

Over 2000 Aggie students receive a world-class education each day, and our accomplishments stand alone as the very best in the business. This past year we witnessed an exceptionally talented class of seniors graduate at a rate of 96 percent with four out of five achieving college/career readiness as defined by the State Department of Education. We also saw our best ACT scores in six years and expect that the Class of 2021 will finish with more impressive results. A special thank you goes out to all of our great teachers, coaches, and faculty sponsors for inspiring greatness. Teaching excellence is our trademark, and everything we do centers on student success.

When schools across the world closed in March of 2020, Sylacauga wasted no time in building and executing an academic plan to complete the year with continual learning, and we seamlessly transitioned into summer school activities, athletic workouts, and performing arts rehearsals. While many routine functions were interrupted around us, the crisis only highlighted the outstanding effort of our nurses, child nutrition experts, custodians, bus drivers, communications technicians, clerical professionals, and maintenance staff. Our ability to quickly analyze the changing situation, solve problems and find ways to meet the needs of students enabled this community to move forward in spite of difficult circumstances.

This school year promises to be one of excitement and historical significance, and I am grateful for the tremendous support our community provides in Sylacauga.

Go Aggies!
