    The National Career Clusters® Framework serves as an organizing tool for Career Technical Education (CTE) programs, curriculum design, and instruction across the country. There are 16 Career Clusters in the National Career Clusters Framework, representing 79 Career Pathways to help learners navigate their way to greater success in college and career.

    We consider Sylacauga City's Career and Technical Education (CTE) program to be a key part of the foundation for our state’s future. Sylacauga City's CTE focuses on developing the skills of K-12 students and strives to prepare them for postsecondary learning and workforce opportunities. From the 16 national and state recognized clusters, Sylacauga City Schools offers students seven clusters and nine programs.

    Sylacauga City School's Career & Technical Education program is in the process of defining itself as a nationally recognized high-quality program according to The ACTE® Quality CTE Program of Study Framework, in addition to maintaining the Alabama State Department of Education (ALSDE), Business/Industry Certification (BIC). Students graduating with a CTE Endorsement from one of our programs will be more than qualified to enter college, the military, and/or the workforce.

    Below is a brief overview of the clusters we offer and the programs associated with each cluster. Please explore each program in more depth by choosing them individually.

Arts, Audio/Video Technology & Communications

  • Courses in this cluster provide students with knowledge and skills for further education and employment. Students use current and emerging technology, oberve modeling and mastery of compentencies, and develop and apply skills requred for success in their chosen fields within this cluster. 

Business Management and Administration

  • If you want to run your own business or be the person that makes a business successful, be sure to look at the opportunities within this cluster. Students learn business skills essential to efficient, productive operations for any company.

Finance

  • The finance industry is a critical sector that employs millions of people. The Finance Career Cluster prepares students for careers in financial and investment planning, banking, insurance, and business financial management. Finance career opportunities are available in every sector of the economy and require skill in organization, time management, customer service, and communication. 

Education and Training

  • If you want to have a lifelong impact on others, then you will want to take a close look at the Education and Training cluster. These classes develop the art of teaching and prepare students for the practice skills that they will need for a future career in this cluster. 

Human Services

  • The Human Services Career Cluster prepares individuals for employment in career pathways that relate to families and human needs such as, Counseling and Mental Health Services; Family & Community Services; Personal Care Services; Consumer Services. 

Health Science

  • Healthcare is the largest and fastest-growing industry in the United States. In the Health Science Career Cluster you can prepare for a career that promotes health, wellness and diagnosis, and treats injuries and disease. 

    Some careers involve working directly with people, while others invlove research into diseases or colelcting and formatting data and information. You could work in hospitals, medical or dental offices, laboratories, communities, medivac units, sports arenas or cruise ships. 

Information Technology

  • Information Technology careers are available in every sector of the economy. Careers in IT involve design, development, support, and management of hardware, software, multimedia and systems integration services.
